The economy should be entirely player driven. Using commodities created by players and using the Merchant skill to drive reliable and semi-reliable estimates of value.

Commodities
Commodities are items in the game that are obtained from the environment, traded, or used to produce other items or effects. Commodities range from gathered herbs and pelts to "finished" items like potions, scrolls, weapons, and armor. Generally commodities come from production skills, though other events and situations may produce them. While crafting is less integral to the ongoing function of the Economy than the raw materials generated by production skills- the ability to craft is generally what makes such items interesting to the playerbase.
Vaaloria
For all its focus on science and technology, Vaaloria is essentially an agrarian economy. While there are many cliffs and plateaus in this land, at some point in the past it was significantly volcanic, leaving a blessing of fertile soil which, combined with the stable weather, is a boon to farmers. Unfortunately, Vaaloria is mineral poor, and its smithies and foundries must trade to obtain the metals to ply their craft.
Kvalis
Equatorial Kvalis has a reasonable balance of mineral and agrarian wealth, though it has generally favored wresting its wealth from beneath the mountains as minerals rather than clear-cutting the jungles of eastern Kvalis for more farmland. It is rumored that vast quantities of gold and other precious metals are to be found in the wastes of western Kvalis. However, non Kvali merchants and prospectors are barred from entering that vast desert, so few know for sure.
Oro
Bitter cold and rock hard, Oro has a bare strip of arable land along some of its coasts, before they disappear under the eternal northern ice. For generations the Orons have lived as hunters, fishers, and raiders to obtain their food- but with the advent of trade the breadbasket of Vaaloria was opened in exchange for the vast mineral wealth that has pored from the cold stones.
Trade Routes
The great trade winds blow from Vaalnor’s southern tip to the southern coasts of Kvalis. From there most merchant vessels work north along the Kvali coast to catch the northern winds which take them back to northern Vaalnor by way of the Oron port city of Nordhaven.
Currency
Future
There is no printed official currency. Since the ancient coins were made of precious metals it still carries some value. However, fixed prices are rarely used. Instead most purchases are made on a barter system, simple trading commodities.
Past
The official coinage originated in one or more of the ancient Empires and are simple disks of precious metal. While each of the modern kingdoms made attempts at currency at different times, they were eventually abandoned in favor of a netural universal standard.
The design of these coins is small disk with 3 triangular notches cut from them. Generally, the front of newer coins bears the likeness of one of the leaders of the kingdom in which it is struck, though true significance of the faces on anceint coins is unknown. The reverse bears three seals, each of which have been adopted by Vaaloria, Oro, and Kvalis.
