The world of Phoria has two moons, around which much of their calender is built. These moons are named Koris and Phanari.

Koris

The larger and slower of the two moons orbiting Phoria, Koris appears in the sky as a vibrant purple. Koris moves through it's cycle over the course of 42 days, marking a Phorian month. unlike Phanari which sweeps through it's phases, Koris lingers for as much as a week and a half (8 nights) in the new and full moon- slowly appearing or dissappearing by tiny slices each night.

Phanari

Smaller and closer than Koris, the swift moving Phanari's appearance varies from a ruby glow to a dark blood-like spot in the sky. Astronomers assume that Phanari's coloring is the result of extensive iron and iron-oxide deposits in the soil of the moon. This moon shifts through its phases extraordanarilly quickly- having only a 6 day cycle. While an observer can essentially watch the shift of phase over each night, the nights of the week are essentially identified as; new, waxing crescent, waxing half, full, waining half, waining crescent. These nightly identifiers give the days of the week their names.
