A character's Reputation is how well-known they are. This is not, however a single statistic nor is it internal. Reputation is tracked by various groups for an individual. Adjustments in a character's reputation are not made because of what the character does, but what members of the group observe or hear about the character doing. Characters (both PC and NPC) may have multiple loyalties, and determining the relative friendliness of a character can become a matter of weighing the another's varying Reputation among those loyalties.

Some of the main Reputations;

  • Kvalis
  • Oro
  • Vaaloria
  • the Houses
  • the Great Houses
  • (any particular house)

Starting Reputation

Reputation is tracked, primarilly, by the NPC members of a group. PCs may perform actions to raise or lower another character's Reputation in that group, but the primary source of change is what the NPCs see or hear about.

All characters start with no reputation in most groups. Once an NPC member of a group becomes aware of that character, generally by seeing them though "rumor" may make do so first, their starting value is generated. This value generally has a base of 0, neutral, though some particularly grumpy or biased individuals may automatically give others a negative reputation.
